DSE is the oldest and largest running club in San Francisco. We hold organized races nearly every weekend in and around San Francisco. Our races are low key, family friendly, and open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. The Top Five male, female, and non-binary finishers in each race win place ribbons. Members who earn at least 3 volunteer points in a calendar year are eligible to win trophy awards in a range of categories, and are eligible to participate in DSE-sponsored Bay to Breakers and Christmas Relay teams.

  • Standard DSE Membership is $20 per calendar year.  Standard members pay $5 per Sunday morning race.  Non-member race fee is $10.
  • Gold DSE Membership is $100 per calendar year (pro-rated to $50 on July 1) and includes unlimited race fees.
  • Teen Membership (ages 13-17) is $10 per calendar year and includes unlimited race fees.
  • 12 and under for both members and nonmembers: free
  • Teen – members free; nonmembers $3
  • Seniors age 80 and over enjoy free Standard Membership or $20 Gold Membership.

Mark Your Calendars! September 30 is the Volunteer Appreciation Picnic for volunteers who have earned at least 3 volunteer points this year. This year’s picnic is a luau theme. Get those ukuleles out!
Lake Merced Summer Series Come join us Thursday evenings, 6:30pm for the Lake Merced Summer Series. Race fees are $2 per race, or $10 for the entire summer series through the end of August. Cash only.

Stanford Summer Research Study on Female Runners Paige Skorseth is helping to conduct a research study on the female athlete triad and iron deficiency through Stanford University’s Department of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. Read the flyer that provides greater detail on the study, and forward to athletes or parents of athletes who would be interested in enrolling in the study. They are looking for high school aged, female distance runners (cross country, road racing, and/or 800 m and greater as primary track event). New for 2019, DSE is moving to calendar year membership and offering an Unlimited GOLD Membership Option!
  • Standard membership includes discounted entry fees to weekly races through 2019 – more than 40 each year!
  • Unlimited GOLD membership includes free pre-registration to all 2019 races, and discounted race fees for the rest of 2018
  • All members are invited to the annual DSE gala.
  • Members who earn at least 3 volunteer points are eligible to win annual awards.

  • Standard Individual: $25
  • Standard Family: $30
  • Unlimited GOLD Individual: $100
Members who opt to receive electronic newsletter receive a $5 discount on annual membership fee.

The Lake Merced Summer Series starts June 7! The races are held every Thursday evening at 6:30pm, starting and finishing at the Sunset Blvd. parking lot at Lake Merced. Race fee is $2 per race, or $10 for unlimited access the entire summer. CASH ONLY. Exact change appreciated. Mark your calendars for June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16, 23. A special thanks to Denise Leo for stepping up to continue this great summer tradition!
