DSE Runners at Calistoga-Santa Cruz Relay
Congratulations to the DSE Men’s Racing Team, who placed second overall (out of 202 teams!)
at the Calistoga-Santa Cruz Relay on April 19-20. Captain Eduardo Vazquez and his eleven
teammates completed the 199 mile course in 22:03:12, despite several injuries incurred
during the race, and less than ideal weather conditions (blustery winds, cold
temperatures). Other team members include Oliver Chan, Matthew Fabry, Jeremy Calnan,
Jerry Flannagan, Kennet DeSilva, Chikara Omine, John Woods, Jason Reed, Jorge Rivera,
and Ky Faubion. DSE is very proud of their accomplishment.
Congratulations are also in order to the Devil’s Slide Track Club (not an official DSE
team) comprised of DSE members Steve Nissenson (Captain), George Baptista, Roy Clarke,
Gene French, Juan Melendez, George Rehmet, and Luis Vargas (plus five non-DSE members).
They won the Men’s Masters Division for the third year in a row, and placed seventh
overall, with a time of 24:40:55. The average age of the team members was a youthful 54!
Photos of both teams will be added shortly to the Photo Gallery.
